Mathematics

Learning Area:  Mathematics

Subject Description

Students will study 12 different topics throughout the Year, as shown below. We aim to consolidate and extend their understanding of Year 7 Mathematics and prepare them for the demands of Year 9 Mathematics.

Currently the Cambridge Essential Mathematics text book and homework book are our primary resources, however, these may be supplemented by a variety of worksheets and Interactive media. PowerPoint presentations or “Hotmaths” may be used to assist visual learners. Math Online is a popular resource that allows students to review content covered in class or extend their understanding of mathematics

Students who have difficulty with mathematics may be eligible for the Everday Math class which is generally smaller in size and works at a pace that is better suited to students who struggle with mathematical concepts.

Higher ability students may be eligible for the Extension Math class.

Math Help is offered throughout the week at various times to further support student learning.
