Year 10 at Emmaus
Dance

Learning Area: The Arts

Subject Description

Students continue the exploration of using movement to create meaning in their two group compositional tasks throughout the semester. They are required to learn, rehearse and perform a Learnt Dance Work that the teacher choreographs. In this task the students need to demonstrate their level of technical skills and performance skills. Students explore their chosen dance style and expressive intention through their composition, rehearsal and performance of a Solo. Students revisit anatomy from the previous year and continue to demonstrate their understanding of safe dance practice in their Warm UP assessment. They continue to learn dance terminology throughout theoretical lessons. All theoretical work is recorded into their workbook. Students are also introduced to analysis of dance works and the skills required.
